Top Judicial Official the presiding justice said the decision to arrest the elderly politician was a preventative measure after recent developments came to light.

This involved trying to remove his ankle monitor and a summons to a public vigil that could enable a chance to flee".

Judicial Records Show Escape Concerns

In a document approving the detention, Justice Moraes said information from the facility tracking Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the one-time head of state's "intention to break the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his flight.

This, it said, would be assisted by the disorder caused by the protest called by his offspring.

His son, Flávio Bolsonaro, who serves as a legislator, called for a assembly of his backers near his father's house to take place on the weekend.

Flávio Bolsonaro wrote on social media on Friday: Will you battle for your nation, or watch it all from your smartphone there on your sofa? I invite you to battle with us."

He said the demonstration would be so backers could seek divine intervention for his health and for the restoration of democratic rule in our land."

Foreign Shelter Risks

Part of the magistrate's ruling was the possibility of Bolsonaro's move to embassies near the dwelling, considering that the investigations revealed a record of planning to ask for protection through a diplomatic representation", a statement said.

The judicial paperwork underscores that the US embassy in the federal district, Brasilia, is positioned around approximately 13 kilometers from his dwelling.

International Reactions

The former president's legal troubles have provoked anger from fellow conservative nationalist American leader President Trump, causing him to impose a half-rate duty on goods coming from Brazil.

Supreme Court justices said that he had knowledge of a plan which involved plans to assassinate Lula and his vice-presidential running mate, Geraldo Alckmin, and to detain and kill the presiding judge - the top judicial official who has been presiding over his judicial proceedings.

The scheme was prevented because it couldn't obtain the backing of the military leaders. His successor was inaugurated without problem on 1 January 2023.

But a seven days after, on the eighth of January, numerous Bolsonaro supporters stormed and vandalised public facilities in the capital, the capital city.

The police intervened and around approximately 1,500 persons were arrested.

The judges found that the protesters had been encouraged by the former president whose scheme, they said, was for the Brazilian military to intervene, restore order and bring him back to power.

At the period, the legal team called the over 27-year sentence unreasonably severe".

He was also banned from running for public office until 2060 - eight years after the completion of his term.

The one-time head of state called the trial a political persecution and said it was aimed at blocking him running in the 2026 national vote.
