19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.
He defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
